Questions about "Malaysians and WebChat"
Ok - it's about time that I clear up a few scandalous misconceptions that a whole bunch of people have about my feelings towards the Malaysian users on irc.webchat.org.
It's very simple:
I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEM WITH THE REGULARY, RULES-FOLLOWING USERS ON IRC.WEBCHAT.ORG. I HAVE MANY MALAYSIAN FRIENDS ON WEBCHAT, AND I DO *NOT* HATE ANY OF OUR MALAYSIAN USERS WHO FOLLOW OUR NETWORK'S RULES.
I *DO* HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THE SMALL PERCENTAGE OF MALAYSIAN USERS WHO ABUSE OUR NETWORK AND DON'T FOLLOW OUR RULES...JUST AS I HAVE PROBLEMS WITH AMERICAN, GERMAN, FRENCH, BRITISH, BRAZILLIAN, CANADIAN, KOREAN, CHINESE, SPANISH, ITALIAN, ARABIC, ISRAELI, CROATIAN, TURKISH, NORVEGIAN, DUTCH, SWISS, SWEDISH AND MORROCAN USERS WHO DO NOT FOLLOW OUR RULES AND TRY TO CAUSE HAVOC ON OUR NETWORK.
See - it's very simple. The Malaysian abusers on our Network (BanjirTeam, KemayauINC, NetForce & XForce only being the most visible) want to cause trouble for the IRC OPs and Admins that work under me and the rest of the WebChat Executive Committee by lying to the rest of the Malaysian users by saying that we don't like Malaysians. Why is it, then, when *.my and *.th were permanently K-lined/G-lined by almost every other IRC Network 6 years ago that WebChat AGREED to have them come join and use our network? Because we acknowledged the Malaysian & Thai user's rights of free speech and network access - and the Malaysian and Thai abusers, unfortunately, followed as well.
So, how things are today is this: If the Malaysian & Thai abusers and rules-breakers continue in their abuse of our network, we will, one day, be forced to follow suit with the rest of the IRC Networks and prohibit their use of our network. If the normal, non-abusive IRC users from Malaysian want to continue to have access to our network, then they should rise-up and take the issue of Malaysian and Thai abusers into their own hands and deal with them locally - including the CyberCafe owners in Malaysia and Thailand; I'm sure that the CC owners *know* who these people are and don't do anything to control the abuse of their systems because they don't want to lose the income generated from their "customers" - but at what expense? Are they willing to have yet another IRC Network prohibit their users from connecting?
To all of the Malay & Thai users reading this: the future is, and has always been, in YOUR hands.
